Settled & Sorted! A few last things to tick off…
The heavy lifting is done (except for those last few moving boxes), and now it’s time to settle into your new home.
Before we part ways (for now), here are a few important house-keeping to note!
1. Double-Check Your Loan Repayments
Now settlement has occurred and your loan has opened (usually within 2-3 days after settlement). It’s important that we make sure your loan repayments are set up correctly with your bank or broker. You can usually check this via internet banking, but if you’re unsure reach out to your broker (that’s us!) – we’re here to help.
Hot tip: We recommend paying weekly or fortnightly instead of monthly—this small change could help you pay off your home loan up to 7 years sooner!
2. Insure Your Contents & Protect Your Home
You’ve got your building insurance sorted, but don’t forget about contents insurance! Whether you’re a homeowner or an investor, protecting your furniture, appliances, and valuables is a must.
🏡 Own a unit or townhouse? If your property is insured under body corporate, be sure to check exactly what’s covered—some policies exclude fittings, fixtures, flooring, and even some internal walls! So you’ll want to make sure your contents cover is sufficient to cover the gaps…

3. Update Your Budget
Owning a home comes with new expenses, so it’s time to refresh your budget! Be sure to factor in:
Building & contents insurance (or landlord insurance for investors)
Council rates & water rates
Body corporate fees (if applicable)
Home maintenance & repairs

4. Review Your Loan Yearly
Now don’t worry, we’ve got you—no need to set a reminder because that’s our job!
As your broker, every year on our anniversary, we’ll be in touch to review your current home loan structure, bank and interest rate — so you don’t have to lift a finger! How good is that?!
We’ll also provide you an updated property profile report, update you on your financial position and discuss any financial goals you might have. We’re here to do more than just secure your mortgage, we’re here to help you own your home sooner!
